Home tray whitening
For home tray whitening a couple of visits to the practice are required.
At your first visit some impressions are taken of your mouth which are then sent to a laboratory who produce some custom made trays which fit closely to your teeth when worn. These trays will contain the whitening gel.
At your second appointment we will give you these trays to take home after ensuring that they fit well. We will also supply you with the tooth whiteing gel (peroxide).
You then wear the trays either overnight or for an hour during the day, whenever is more convenient for you, for approximately 2 weeks. The amount of time it takes varies per patient.
The benefits of home tray whitening are;
-You can control the level of whitening that you achieve.
-You can keep the trays so that you can 'top up' your whitening at a later date, all you need to do is purchase the tooth whitening gel which is around £15 a tube.
-This is also the cheaper and most economic option.
In Surgery Tray whitening
Impressions are taken and custom made trays are made for you as they are for home whitening. During the 'in surgery' whitening procedure your gums are protected, the trays are loaded with a peroxide gel which is of a higher strength than the home whitening gel. This is then placed over the teeth for 45-60 minutes. Immediate results are achieved and the trays may be kept and used again for future 'top ups'.
In Surgery Power Light Whitening (1 Hour)
This ‘in-house’ power tooth whitening offers the latest in whitening gel and arc lamp technology, with newly improved light activated chemistry for optimum results. A protective barrier is placed on the gums, stronger peroxide gel is applied to the teeth, and then you sit under an LED light for 1 hour. This is an immediate procedure but is a more expensive option and does not give you the opportunity to ‘top-up’ with trays in future.
Deep Bleaching
Home whitening can also be done in conjunction with our 'in surgery' whitening. You can use either method, one following another, to get that extra 'wow' factor.
The combination of the two gives you the most dramatic results and has the benefits of giving you immediate results, if you have the 'in surgery' whitening first, and then you also get to keep your home whitening trays for future 'tops ups'.
There is a reduction in price if the two methods are done together as opposed to being done at different times which you may end up wanting if you did not achieve the level of whitening that you wished for with a single method on its own. If you wish for dramatic results or have particulary heavy staining then this may be the best option for you.
